Costa Rica’s Nature And Landscapes
Group Tour – Daily UK Departures
A countrywide tour of Costa Rica visiting the major attractions but also focusing on its varied landscapes including the tropical Caribbean Coast and the beautiful mountains of Cartago and San Gerardo De Dota in the interior.
From San Jose, you visit the immense crater of the Poas Volcano, and the awe-inspiring Arenal Volcano towering over the town of La Fortuna to the north. At Sarapiqui, the wonderfully named Chocolate Tour lets you observe the process of making rainforest organic chocolates, with tasting included!
You reach the Caribbean Ocean at Cahuita, where idyllic beaches combine with Reggae sounds and laid back Caribbean hospitality.
Turrialba is the most fertile region of Costa Rica, with vast market gardens on volcanic slopes. At San Gerado de Dota you can experience wonderful highland vistas while enjoying its invigorating springtime climate.
You can then continue for a short stay at Costa Rica’s Central Pacific beaches or return to San Jose for a stopover night prior to your departure.

Crater
Only 30 miles away from San Jose, the Poás Volcano
(8,200 feet) is considered the largest active crater in the
world, about 1 mile wide and 980 feet deep, with
frequent geyser-like eruptions. Near the volcano's crater
are lakes of molten sulphur, thought to be the only
examples of their kind. Poas has erupted 39 times since
1828.
Nearby Botos Lagoon is an extinct crater with a lake of deep blue water and surrounding dense tropical forests that contain many species of birds.
