This tour combines adrenaline adventure activities such as White Water Rafting and Zip Lining with a sightseeing tour of Costa Rica. This itinerary will of course appeal to families with older kids and teenagers in search of adventure and excitement.
Upon arrival at San Jose you can stop for a stopover night in the capital city. Next day you travel to view the huge crater of the Poas Volcano and Sarapiqui, Costa Rica’s most popular adventure destination for White Water Rafting on the idyllic Sarapiqui River.
The towering Arenal Volcano rises out of rich tropical forests at La Fortuna. Onwards to the cloud forests of Monteverde where you can go on guided night hikes and walk along its famous Hanging Bridges over the rainforest. The experience is a thrilling adrenaline rush to end your tour while flying at tree-top height on a system of cables through the rainforest.

Visit The Poás Volcano For A Breathtaking View Of Its
Crater
Only 30 miles away from San Jose, the Poás Volcano
(8,200 feet) is considered the largest active crater in the
world, about 1 mile wide and 980 feet deep, with
frequent geyser-like eruptions. Near the volcano's
crater are lakes of molten sulphur, thought to be the
only examples of their kind in the world. Poas has
erupted 39 times since 1828.
Nearby Botos Lagoon is an extinct crater with a lake of deep blue water and surrounding dense tropical forests that contain many species of birds.

White Water Rafting On The River Sarapiqui Class II – III Rapids Winding through a region known as the land of "Eternal Spring," the Sarapiquí River tumbles down through thick rainforests to the northern plains Verdant forests stretch right up to the river's sunny banks.
This narrow, low-volume river is ideal for white-water novices and families, all of who will enjoy its moderately flowing rapids interspersed with tranquil stretches. The journey is also excellent for bird-watchers and other nature lovers. The river stretches its way through lush vegetation giving shelter to hummingbirds, toucans, woodpeckers and scores of other native bird species. This classic tropical river experience should not be missed!

cacao-tree plantation where a guide will reveal the
secrets of transforming cacao fruit into chocolate.You will see the chocolate-making process first-hand
and even have the opportunity to treat your taste buds

visit a gift shop to purchase authentic organic cacao
chocolate bars.

Guided Trek To View The Arenal Volcano
You will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide
who will explain everything about the Arenal Volcano’s
formation, eruption and the area’s eco-system. After
the hike you’ll be taken to an observation point where
you will have the best possible views of the volcano
and the lava flows. The Arenal Volcano is one of the
most active volcanoes in the world, constantly rumbling
and erupting. With a little luck, you can expect to see a
dazzling firework display as the lava rolls down the side
of the volcano.
Visit The Tropical Baldi Hot Springs
The Baldi Hot Springs at Arenal feature no less than 16
pools that vary in temperature up to 95°F. While
enjoying your mineral bath you can also enjoy a fabulous
view of the Arenal Volcano, from which, on a clear night
you can witness impressive Lava Flows. There are also 2
wet bars, an impressive restaurant, spa and changing
facilities.

A Night Walk In The Monteverde Rainforest To See
Nocturnal Wildlife
An excursion that begins just before sunset and finishes
at night by flashlight is an informative walk with an
experienced naturalist guide through a series of trails to
observe the nightlife of a premontane forest. The trails
are well marked and easy to walk in the dusk’s failing
light, yet rustic enough to remind you that you're in a
wilderness environment.
Some of the wildlife you might see as day turns to night include porcupines, toucans and other sleeping birds, owls, agoutis, coatimundis, snakes, tarantulas and an array of other nocturnal insects.

Rainforest Walk On The Famous Hanging Bridges Of
Monteverde
Morning pick up at about 8:30 am for an excursion to the
Selvatura Rainforest Walkways. These are trails through
the cloud forest where you walk over suspension bridges
and observe biodiversity high above the canopy of the
jungle. It will take you about 2.5 hours to explore the
reserve.
Zip Lining Through Rainforests At Monteverde
The Sky Trek Canopy Tour in Monteverde is located 6 km
from the town of Santa Elena and about 3km from the
Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. Flying across the misty
cloud forest of Monteverde is one of Costa Rica's
signature experiences.
This famous canopy tour consists of 11 zip line cables with a combined length of 3 kilometers and range in heights that range between 20 to 30 meters. Sky Trek is also a great opportunity to have panoramic views at two observation towers that offer views to the Pacific on a clear day. It is also possible to see the northern lowlands that stretch all the way to the Caribbean.
The Sky Trek tour generally takes about 2 hours. Maximum weight allowed for Sky Trek is 225 lbs.
From Monteverde you can either return to San Jose or travel onwards to the nearby beach resorts of the Northern Pacific Gold Coast such as Tamarindo or resorts of the Nicoya Peninsula such as Samara.
Transfers to the famous surfing beaches of the Central Pacific are also possible.

NOTE: Depending on the location of your beach hotel and flight timings a stopover night at San Jose may be necessary prior to your departure.
Depart Costa Rica – Daytime flights arrive back in UK the next day.
