Multiple day trips are available to combine the exhilarating rafting adventures with exploration of waterfalls, hiking trails and natural springs along the way.
A one day excursion begins with an early morning pick-up from your San Jose hotel. You will then be taken for a lovely, typical breakfast before continuing on to Tres Equis, where you will begin your river adventure.
Before embarking, your knowledgeable bilingual guide will explain all safety instructions. The group will then proceed down the picturesque river and have lunch on a riverbank. The total river time is around five hours. Your rafting excursion will finish with transportation back to your hotel.

The journey also is excellent for bird-watchers and other nature lovers. The river stretches its way through lush vegetation giving shelter to hummingbirds, toucans, woodpeckers and scores of other native bird species. People of all ages will enjoy the excitement and thrill of white water rafting on this half day adventure to the Balsa/San Carlos River. Rapids along the Balsa River are graded class 2-3 and is a great option for families and beginners.
White Water Rafting begins with a transport from any Arenal area hotel and a short drive of 30 minutes to the location. Rafters will spend up to 2 exhilarating hours of white water action with your guide passing scenic forests and the lush Costa Rican landscapes. At the San Carlos bridge you can enjoy a swim and a cold Costa Rican style ”Michelada” beer (or soda) and some fruits and snacks.
The Balsa River Tour includes: Transportation to and from your hotel, bilingual certified guides, towels, lunch, fruit and snacks on the river and river drinks.
