Begin your tour of Costa Rica with a visit to the vast Corcovado National Park, often described as ‘the most naturally diverse location on the entire planet!. The park is best visited with a stay at Drake Bay from where you may also visit Cono Island that lies offshore.

Returning to the capital San Jose, travel onwards to Sarapiqui for the deliciously named Chocolate Tour and a wildlife boat safari through the tropical waterways of the amazing Tortuguero National Park.

Next is the awe-inspiring Arenal Volcano that towers above the town of La Fortuna - one of the most spectacular sights of the natural world. In the afternoon sample the refreshing Hot Springs nearby .
The Monteverde Cloud Forest can be experienced with
a walk along its aerial bridges that seem to hang in mid-air over the rainforest canopy. You can go on a night hike through the rainforest and visit its interesting hummingbird gardens.

From here its an easy journey to the Gold Coast beaches of Guanacaste or the popular resorts of the Central Pacific.

Day 01

Depart UK – San Jose

tour representative on arrival at the airport.

Transfer to your hotel at San Jose.

Day 02

Internal Flight To Osa Peninsula
Early morning pick up from your hotel in San José and transfer to the Domestic Airport for an internal flight to either Drake Bay or Palmar Sur Airstrip.

You continue by boat, first through mangrove forests of the Sierpe River, where you can observe a great variety of birds, and out of the river mouth into the Pacific Ocean, along Drake Bay until you reach your lodge.

Day 03

Excursion To Cano Island After breakfast you will enjoy a full day excursion to Caño Island, 45 minutes by boat from your lodge. A local English speaking guide will show you around the island, which was once an important hiding place for pirates.

The afternoon will be at leisure to enjoy snorkeling around the beautiful coral reefs of the island or to relax on the beach.

Whole Day Hike Through The Amazing Corcovado
National Park

Together with your local English speaking guide you enter the San Pedrillo Sector of the Corcovado National Park, where you start your hike on rainforest trails, observing flora and fauna. Corcovado is responsible for the survival of many endangered species of animals of Central America. An incredible biodiversity has developed over millions of years, with many micro-ecosystems leading to the evolution of a host of endemic species of plants and animals. In parts of the rainforest, you can find over 100 species of trees within just 1 hectare of land!!

You can also visit an idyllic rainforest waterfall and enjoy lunch on the wild beaches of Corcovado.

Day 05

Take an internal flight back to San Jose and continue onwards to the town of Sarapiqui.

A boat tour through the channels of Tortuguero is a great opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of a rainforest.

The forests are home to three-toed sloths, and three of Costa Rica's four species of monkey - Geoffrey's Spider Monkey, the Mantled Howler, and the White Headed Capuchin. Basilisk lizards and poisonous frogs also inhabit the area, along with 375 species of birds including kingfishers, toucans, blue herons, peacocks, and parrots.

You will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who will explain everything about the Arenal Volcano’s formation, eruption and the area’s eco-system. After the hike you’ll be taken to an observation point where you will have the best possible views of the volcano and the lava flows. The Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, constantly rumbling and erupting. With a little luck, you can expect to see a dazzling firework display as the lava rolls down the side of the volcano.

The Baldi Hot Springs at Arenal feature no less than 16 pools that vary in temperature up to 95°F. While enjoying your mineral bath you can also enjoy a fabulous view of the Arenal Volcano, from which, on a clear night you can witness impressive Lava Flows. There are also 2 wet bars, an impressive restaurant, spa and changing facilities.

A Night Walk In The Monteverde Rainforest To See Nocturnal Wildlife An excursion that begins just before sunset and finishes at night by flashlight is an informative walk with an experienced naturalist guide through a series of trails to observe the nightlife of a premontane forest. The trails are well marked and easy to walk in the dusk’s failing light, yet rustic enough to remind you that you're in a wilderness environment.

Some of the wildlife you might see as day turns to night include porcupines, toucans and other sleeping birds, owls, agoutis, coatimundis, snakes, tarantulas and an array of other nocturnal insects.

Day 10

Monteverde

Rainforest Walk On The Famous Hanging Bridges Of Monteverde Morning pick up at about 8:30 am for an excursion to the Selvatura Rainforest Walkways. These are trails through the cloud forest where you walk over suspension bridges and observe biodiversity high above the canopy of the jungle. It will take you about 2.5 hours to explore the reserve.

Selvatura Hummingbird Gardens Watch over 100 beautiful hummingbirds flying around you! More than 14 species of hummingbirds can be seen with their incredible aerial maneuvers and bright lively colors.

Day 11

Costa Rica’s Beaches Or San Jose

IFrom Monteverde you can either return to San Jose or travel onwards to the nearby beach resorts of the Northern Pacific Gold Coast such as Tamarindo or resorts of the Nicoya Peninsula such as Samara.

Transfers to the Central Pacific are also possible.

NOTE: You can choose as many beach nights as you require.

NOTE: Depending on the location of your beach hotel and flight timings a stopover night at San Jose may be necessary prior to your departure.
